The Solution for Next Generation Media Devices

The RMI® Alchemy Au1300 Processor family leverages the commitment and experience gained from the success of RMI’s industry leading Au1200® Processor family. Building on this success, the Au1300 Processor family extends the performance, enriches the media experience and reduces overall system power. These processors are targeted for applications such as multi-function Portable Media Players (PMP), Home Media Players® (HMP), media capable Personal Navigation Devices (mPND), and Mobile Internet Devices (MID). The Au1300 Processors introduces significant improvements in performance, media playback and lower power consumption while preserving the software investment from the Au1200 Processor family.

The Alchemy Au1300 Processors provide on-chip decoding of leading digital media formats including H.264, MPEG 1/2/4, DivX, XviD, WMV9 and VC-1, without the need for transcoding.

The MIPS32® compliant architecture runs at clock speeds of up to 800MHz to maximize the performance, processing capability and available MIPS for the Au1300 Processors. This is made possible by a highly efficient system bus architecture capable of providing the necessary bandwidth for intensive applications, such as 2D/3D applications with simultaneous video decode without a significant impact on overall system performance.
